Sloom is a South African Mattress brand established in 2016. Our main goal is to simplify the mattress buying experience with our mattress in a box. Sloom’s products are designed to eliminate the confusion and frustration of commission driven, high markup beds in the South African Market. As an online exclusive sleep company, we sell directly to consumers. The mattress in a box is delivered to your door in an easy-to-handle sized box.
PROBLEM
A few years ago while selling beds in the retail industry, one of my biggest frustrations was the amount of different beds. And all their different (but technically the same) features. Clients feel overwhelmed. Certain terms like ‘Orthopeadic’ are just over used terms with little substance. It became my mission to understand the detail and composition of each bed.
UNCERTAINTY
Another obstacle: uncertainty regarding your own comfort preference. You quickly lie on the bed in store. You still feel uncertain. It is impossible to determine whether you will comfortably sleep on bed by only laying on it for a few minutes, while the sales man creepily stares at you.
